What is Osteopathy?
Osteopaths are nationally registered primary healthcare practitioners under AHPRA.
In Australia, Osteopaths complete 5 years of full-time university training in the assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of many different injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
Osteopathy is predominantly a form of Hands-On manual therapy, designed to help alleviate painful conditions and increase mobility.
Current research suggests that a multi-modal approach (eg: manipulative therapy, exercise and education) provides better outcomes than a single mode approach. Our Osteopaths incorporate a multi-modal approach to treatment, usually with a Hands-On approach being accompanied by rehabilitation exercises, medication review, ergonomic advice and nutritional advice when appropriate.
Our Osteopaths are AHPRA registered and full members of Osteopathy Australia.
Osteopaths at Osteopaths of Richmond are registered agents for WorkCover, TAC and DVA claims and are able to provide rebates under most Private Health funds (extras) and Medicare Rebates under a Care Plan (Enhanced Primary Care or Chronic Disease Management - ask your GP!).
